Bone Health
Our bones protect our organs, anchor muscles, store minerals and provide our body with
structure. They function well for us, however we don't do the best job of taking care of them.
Part of that is due to previous lack of science and public awareness.
Recently, we've learned the importance in taking better care of our bones. Osteoporosis, a
disease marked by fragile, thinning bones, is the leading cause of disability in the United
States . It occurs gradually over a long period of time, making it difficult to see the need to
initiate preventative measures. Ten million Americans currently suffer from the disease, and
another 18 million lack adequate bone density, putting them at high risk for full-blown
osteoporosis.
